    I started Plaquenil last week and so far the side effects are dizziness, nausea and tummy feeling weird. I was just wondering has long it takes to adjust and if taking twice the dose will result in higher discomfort.

    It sounds like you're doing a good job of it yourself, but I would say go very slowly off of it. Plaquenil takes a long time to build up in your body and therefore also will take awhile to really leave your body as well. So you're not going to get a good picture in one months time what the reduction of the plaquenil has had on you. Had headaches with the plaquenil so went to the sulfar and predisone. Sulfar was a waste of time and since I had a little help from the plaquenil he switched me back to that with pain meds for the headaches and body. Recently i went back for app. and plaquenil had stopped doing anything so he added the methotrexate to it. I did not want to take it. Symptoms can start to improve in one to two months, but it may take up to six months before the full benefits of this medication are experienced.
