I find that the erithro/plaquenil combination is helping me much more than the tetracycline did. When on tetra, I took it by itself - with no plaquenil. Plaquenil is often combined w. biaxin, but erithromycin can be substituted it' did make me gain weight, which I've lost now that I'm on erithro and plaquenil. I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies. Whether you try Plaquenil or not is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but a lot will depend on the type and severity of reactions that you've had. Rashes are certainly a lot less severe than respiratory reactions. For the brand, I take Doctor's Best or Source Naturals I think. I worked up very slowly, because I had read you can get infections once the blood starts moving again, and I can't handle more infections. I take 2 natto & 2 serra first thing when I wake up, then wait 30 minutes for food and antibiotics.

Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

  7. Never, it's the Plaquenil that's helped me a great deal I love the stuff. but I do take Advil in addition. So if you're not getting enough pain relief from Plaquenil alone, you could ask your dr. whether you can add an OTC like Advil. I don't think Plaquenil is an antibiotic. I think it's an antimalarial & is classified as a DMARD =.
